Does rotation reduce quality?

Rotations by 90° steps are lossless. Other angles resample pixels and can soften fine lines slightly.

Rotating repeats safely

Rotating a seamless tile by exactly 90°, 180° or 270° keeps it seamless; any other angle does not, because the corners of the rotated square no longer meet. For angled layouts, rotate the motif inside the Seamless Pattern Maker instead.

Example

Turn a horizontal stripe repeat into a vertical stripe for a different garment cut by rotating 90° — the tile stays seamless and keeps its pixel dimensions (swapped).
