Textile Color Palette Tool

Start from one key colour, pick a harmony, lock what you like and see the palette on a live floral, stripe, geometric or spot pattern.

How to use the Textile Color Palette Tool

  1. Pick a key colour.
  2. Choose a harmony such as analogous, complementary or natural dyes.
  3. Keep “Include a neutral ground” on for a realistic background colour.
  4. Lock colours you like and shuffle the rest.
  5. Download swatches or the pattern preview.

Palettes that work on fabric

Unlike generic colour-wheel tools, this palette builder adds a ground colour — the background shade most textile designs sit on — and previews the palette as a printed pattern so you judge colours in context. Each colour shows its contrast against the ground, which helps keep motifs legible.

Harmony types

  • Analogous — neighbouring hues; calm and tonal.
  • Complementary — opposite hues; energetic, good for accents.
  • Split complementary — balance with less tension.
  • Triadic / tetradic — playful, multi-colour prints such as kidswear.
  • Natural dyes — indigo, madder, weld and iron-black inspired shades for block-print and heritage looks.
