Image Resolution Checker
Drop in an image to read its pixel dimensions, embedded DPI, colour mode and ICC profile, and see how large it can print on fabric.
Runs in your browser — images are never uploadedHow to use the Image Resolution Checker
- Upload a JPG, PNG or WebP.
- Read the pixel size, embedded DPI, colour mode and profile.
- Enter the size you want to print to get the effective DPI and a verdict.
- Use the table to see the maximum print size at common resolutions.
What the checker reads
The checker decodes the image in your browser and reads the file header directly: the JFIF or EXIF resolution in JPEGs, the pHYs chunk in PNGs, the number of colour channels (to detect CMYK JPEGs) and whether an ICC colour profile is embedded.
Example
A client sends a 2,400 × 2,400 px JPEG “at 300 DPI” and wants it printed 60 cm wide. The checker shows an effective resolution of about 102 DPI at that size — low enough to warn the client before printing.
Frequently asked questions
My file says 72 DPI — is it unusable?
Not necessarily. The stored DPI is just a label. What matters is the pixel count relative to the print size, which this tool calculates for you.
Can it read TIFF or PSD files?
Browsers cannot display TIFF or PSD files, so export a PNG or JPG copy to check it here.
